Welcome to our Consultation Website.
Thank you for visiting this online consultation for our exciting proposals that would unlock the next chapter for the continued growth of the Countesswells Community, through the preparation of our Phase 2 Masterplan.
In normal circumstances we would have loved to welcome members of the public and interested parties to a public exhibition to present the proposals in person, and importantly get your valued feedback. However, due to the ongoing restrictions regarding Covid-19 and in line with Scottish Government advice, we have decided to hold an online consultation instead.
This website provides you with background to the Countesswells Development and our proposals for creating the next phases of development, which will provide new homes, a town centre with shops, cafes and restaurant uses, a new secondary school, as well as a large area of community parkland.
Further details can be found by clicking on ‘The Proposal’ tab above and we would encourage you to also explore our virtual consultation section, where detailed consultation boards outlining the plans for the Phase 2 area are available to view.
We would also very much welcome any comments and views you have on the proposals. In our feedback section you will find a form which you can fill in and submit online, or alternatively you can download and submit via the details provided.
The Countesswells community.
What’s happened so far?
Countesswells was first identified as a major new planned settlement expansion approximately 7km to the west of Aberdeen within the 2012 Aberdeen Local Development Plan, for a new community of 3,000 homes and a range of retail, employment and community uses, covering an area of approximately 165 hectares.
Since then, substantial statutory public and stakeholder consultation has been undertaken which informed the preparation of a Development Framework and Phase 1 Masterplan, in addition to an application Planning Permission in Principle and subsequent detailed applications for the initial phases of development.
To date, 375 market and affordable homes are occupied and a substantial swathe of new parkland and open space has been delivered. Planning permission has also been approved for the first primary school and local supermarket. This consultation seeks your views on the next phase of growth around the central core of the new community, which will include a mix of residential properties and establishment of a new neighbourhood centre.
